Java is an object-oriented software programming language and computing platform that drives the core functions of many technologies today, such as Android, Minecraft, and web/desktop applications development. In this camp, students will learn - to set up a development environment - to design and organize code in an object-oriented manner.
We will introduce basic concepts of objects, classes, scope, error handling, input/output, file reading/writing, packages and more. We will use the Eclipse IDE.
Prerequisites: Some previous experience with a programming language (e.g., Scratch, Python, PERL, Javascript) To optimize instruction and student experience, we are limiting the number of seats available. $365 for the week.

This camp is a full week from 9 am - 4 pm at a cost of $365 per camper. Before and after care are available. for additional cost.
As with all our camps, we will have frequent outdoor breaks in between the programming sessions.
The camp instructor is David Gleeson, a co-founder and STEAM course planner for The Enrichment Center. He holds a degree in Biology from the University of MA at Amherst under the mentorship of Distinguished Professor Lynn Margulis, and a Masters in Information Technology from Harvard University School of Extension.
